The day after Thanksgiving the man of my dreams fulfilled my dreams and asked me to marry him. He started the night by taking me to the Roof, a restaurant overlooking the Salt Lake temple, for a romantic dinner. While eating I was delivered a beautiful bouquet of a dozen red roses,
and then a crossword puzzle that Michael had created himself using our dating experiences...anyone who can incorporate peanut butter into a crossword puzzle has my heart forever :).
After that I was delivered a giant white chocolate covered fortune cookie (another detail worried about by Michael because I LOVE white chocolate and do not like milk chocolate!). Inside was a note saying....NO...not asking me to marry him...just telling me "If I played my cards right a marriage proposal might be forthcoming"....lol. Boy was I hoping I played my cards right!
After an absolutely delicious dinner we went to look at the lights on temple square. We went outside the gates after a few minutes and took a carriage ride around temple square (I had always wanted to take a carriage ride and had never been able to so I was loving it). While on the carriage ride Michael pulled out a Scrabble game...if anyone knows me they know I love to play scrabble! So while we were playing I saw the words "lets get married" but I only put lets and get on my paper and some other words. When we went through the words Michael said...I think you are missing a word...I laughed and put down married. I think he thought I was a brat...but we all know I am as sweet and innocent as the day I was born :).
At that point Michael got down on one knee, told me I made him happier than he has ever been and asked me to marry him. I, of course, said yes! It was an incredibly romantic, perfect night ending with a marriage proposal to an incredible, nearly perfect man.
I ponder alot the incredible love Heavenly Father must have for me to bless me with such an amazing man in my life. Michael is sweet, caring, funny, determined, self disciplined, self motivated, spiritual and truly is a light to me and to my children. I created a list of "must haves" and "nice to haves" when I started dating and Michael fulfilled my whole list plus some! He constantly makes me laugh and just as importantly does the same for my children. He encourages me, lifts me, supports me, and then steps in and does what he can to help me fulfill my dreams and become a better woman. He makes me feel loved, important, and admired. I hoped when I started the painful journey of divorce that I would not be alone forever, but never did I dream that finding someone to share my forever with could be as amazing and wonderful as it is. For that I am most grateful to the man that in 10 days I will call my husband and companion forever...thank you, Michael!
